Poor Man’s Whiskey is an Americana band originating in the San Francisco area in 2001. The music is rooted around the songwriting talents of Josh Brough and Jason Beard (who met in 1993 at the University of California, Santa Barbara). Poor Man’s Whiskey’s live show and sound is a blend of high octane old time/bluegrass music (often done on traditional acoustic instruments of banjo, guitar, fiddle, and mandolin) and a more psychedelic blues/jam rock style that calls upon their earlier influences such as Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers Band, and the Grateful Dead. Poor Man’s Whiskey seamlessly transitions between acoustic and electric styles with a carefully crafted commitment that revolves around well written songs and stories...while maintaining an exciting element of improvisation and the openness to let a song expand.

Her journey began during the pandemic, when she pulled an old Stratocaster from her garage, fixed it up, and taught herself to play by ear—unlocking a voice and style entirely her own. She has since formed Bella Rayne Band, a high-energy, guitar-driven ensemble that has quickly become one of the most talked-about rising acts on the live circuit. Despite her young age, Bella has already shared the stage with seasoned artists and respected bands: appearances alongside Allman Betts Family Revival, Melvin Seals & JGB, ALO, Jackie Greene, Oteil Burbridge, and members of Terrapin Family have all added to her early résumé, and she was touted as “one to watch” by her idol, Susan Tedeschi, in a 2025 Guitar World Magazine interview. It was here that he developed an appreciation for Traditional Jazz and Swing, the Rock & Roll of the 1950s & the Country Music of Jimmie Rodgers & Hank Williams. He discovered boogie woogie when he heard a school friend working through a written arrangement JD's Boogie Woogie (by Marvin Wright). Captivated by the sound of the repeating 8 to the bar left hand pattern, Sonny was inspired to fully explore the piano blues genre, becoming an authority on early & obscure styles. Sonny’s initial visit to New Orleans in 1988 inspired him to relocate to that city where he would spend the next nine years. By the time Sonny relocated to Southern California in 1997, his repertoire had expanded to include ragtime & early jazz styles, which enabled him to become part of the traditional jazz scene around Los Angeles. The Carl Sonny Leyland Trio with drummer Hal Smith/ Josh Collazo & bassist Marty Eggers have recorded seven cds (including a collaboration with Nathan James & Ben Hernandez). HeeHe appears on occasion with such notables as Jontavious Willis, Kim Wilson, & Rod Piazza. He has recorded with Blues greats Billy Boy Arnold, Jerry McCain, Beverley Watlins, James Harman, and Anson Funderburg & Sam Myers. Sonny’s playing displays an infectious spontaneity, providing plenty of surprises for the listener. While he possesses the necessary vocabulary to pay tribute to the greats of old, he refuses to be limit himself to this & prefers to let each performance be an opportunity to say something new. His repertoire spans the Ragtime era through the 1950s, & includes a large amount of self written songs and instrumental compositions.

They slapped as hard as possible on the festival circuit, worked up their stamina on nationwide headlining tours, and left a wake of die-hard Big Richard Heads across the country swooning for their honest songwriting, chilling vocals, and fiddle-driven barn-burners. Fueled by a steady diet of gas station snacks, Big Richard is currently touring their debut full-length studio album Girl Dinner, following a whirlwind year that included performances on PBS' the Cavern Sessions, NPR's World Cafe, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Delfest, Bourbon and Beyond, Jam Cruise, and New Year's Eve at the Ryman in Nashville. From the start, they were the definition of a workingman’s country band, cutting their teeth with five-hour sets on Austin’s dancehall circuit before spreading their music to the rest of America. By the early 2020s, they’d become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music, flying their flag everywhere from Abbey Road Studios (where they recorded 2019’s Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold with help from the London Symphony Orchestra) to the Grand Ole Opry. Their music balances the strengths they’ve accumulated along the way - sharp, detailed songwriting that bounces between autobiographical sketches and character studies; gorgeous swells of pedal steel and piano that drift through the songs like weather; a rhythm section capable of country shuffles, hard-charging rock & roll tempos, and everything in between -with a willingness to break old rules and open new doors. But on Life Can Still Be Sweet, her sophomore album, that self comes into fuller focus: A little older, a little wiser, and more firmly in command of the world she’s building. Warm, whimsical, and full of growing pains, the record captures Forde in the thick of her twenties – learning lessons, finding her people, and holding onto beauty even when life gets hard. “I think I have a unique voice – not just my literal voice, but my proverbial voice,” Forde says. “In this day and age, and in this industry, there’s a lot of trend following, and there’s a lot of homogeny. I’m just really trying to be my own artist.” That individuality has been there from the beginning. Her 2025 debut album Vessel introduced her sound with grace and intention. Arriving after Forde’s Top 5 run on Season 24 of The Voice, Vessel affirmed what had already been true: “I want to be a vessel for the music,” she said at the time. “I’m here to serve it.” Life Can Still Be Sweet is the sound of that next Lila arriving in real time. Where Vessel was recorded before The Voice and released after a long gestation, this new record feels present in her hands – immediate, timely, and deeply connected to the life she’s living now. Since releasing Vessel, Forde’s world has “exploded like a garden blooming,” full of new friendships and musical possibilities. Unlike her debut, Life Can Still Be Sweet came together through a wider constellation of players and co-writers – but for all its moving parts, it is unmistakably Forde’s record. The album glows with Laurel Canyon warmth, old-school soul, country twang, jazz-rooted phrasing, Hammond organ, three-part harmonies, and live-band richness – songs made by real people in rooms together, shaped by chemistry, instinct, and the trust that comes from playing night after night. Forde began writing “Life Can Still Be Sweet” while she was on The Voice, stuck in hotel rooms in Burbank, singing the same songs over and over, her creative bandwidth stretched thin. The rest came later, but the feeling stayed the same – a reminder that even inside chaos, life can still be “the most delicious thing.” That phrase holds even deeper meaning in the context of Forde’s family. Her mother, a classical pianist, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s three years ago – a reality that has reshaped the past few years of Forde’s life and found its way into the emotional core of the album. “Life for her is so different now, and it’s so challenging,” Forde reflects. “And yet, she said to me, life can still be sweet, you know? You walk the dog, you eat a delicious meal. She comes to my concerts and my shows.” From “Molly,” the album’s aching love song to her mother, to the lighter, stranger, funnier edges of growing up, Life Can Still Be Sweet lets each lesson take its own shape. For Forde, music becomes a series of snapshots – living documents of who she was, who she is, and who she is becoming. Right now, that becoming feels golden. Forde describes this chapter as her “Roaring Twenties,” a sweet, scrappy era of development before everything gets bigger, heavier, and more complicated. “I know I’m going to look back at this point in my life and recognize it as a really sweet era of development,” she says. “I’m learning the lessons that will cement me into womanhood.” Life Can Still Be Sweet is full of those lessons: Love should lift you, not drag you uphill. Home is a place full of ghosts, stories, and characters. Friendship can break your heart. Family illness can change everything without taking away beauty. “I hope that listeners can see the world in that way,” Forde smiles. “That even when the walls are caving in, everything’s crashing down. The Great Cosmic Playlist is testimony to the endurance of an emotion that is easy to conjure but hard to maintain. But for Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, who have been coupled consciously since 1986, love is more than a pop song; they are the bards of the long term committed relationship. “As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one,” says Larry. That epiphany occurred in a Manhattan rehearsal studio. Teresa, an actress and vocalist not long removed from Peckerwood Point, TN, had been pulled into a singing contest. Larry, the New York City native with a burgeoning reputation for his virtuosity on any instrument with strings, was brought in to play pedal steel guitar. “For me, it was love at first note,” she says. Together they went on to capture a greater prize. From the beginning, they shared a musical sensibility; Larry courted her with a Louvin Brothers mix tape. The more they played together, the deeper it grew. Whether it was Larry joining in on the music with Teresa’s family and neighbors under the tree where they were married (“Larry melded perfectly,” says Teresa), or Teresa belting bluegrass songs on the bus with Larry and the rest of Bob Dylan’s band as they traveled between gigs (“It was very fulfilling,” recalls Larry), the couple’s rapport grew richer. “I found a connection I had never experienced before,” says Larry. When Dylan’s manager, Jeff Kramer, suggested that they make hay with this natural duo, he expressed a thought that had been already brewing in Larry’s head. But Larry wasn’t ready. “I had to start seeing myself as a singer and songwriter before I could take that step.” The couple took another decade, much spent playing with Levon Helm and his band at his legendary Midnight Rambles in Woodstock, before Larry and Teresa elevated their rapport to the next level. All This Time is the couple’s fourth album since taking that leap, following Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams (2015), Contraband Love (2017), and Live at Levon’s (2023). All This Time , says Larry, “feels more intuitive to me than the earlier records, less experimental, evidence that we’ve grown more aware of who we are and what we have to offer.” What they offer, evidently, is an intensely romantic album. Songs like Desert Island Dreams, Ride With Me, The Way You Make Me Feel, and I Love You fairly burst with the joy of love, while others recognize love’s humbling power. “All I want, all I need, is right in front of me,” testifies one song. “I still tremble at your name,” says another. It’s not hard to recognize All This Time as a post-Covid album. Larry and Teresa had a hard pandemic. Before Teresa left for remote Tennessee to nurse her father through his last illness, Larry came down with a double-barreled blast of Covid, and Teresa was quarantined. Isolated in Woodstock before treatments had been developed, Larry struggled. “Teresa pulled me through,” he says. “I held his hand over the phone,” she offers. Teresa says Larry’s lyrics often help her decipher what’s on his mind, but it doesn’t always take a codebreaker to recognize the songs on this album as love letters sprouted in a harsh spring. “When you told me that you need me/ After all we’ve been through/ I still think about the love we have to give/ I think about you.”

As a band, the Lennons have recorded and performed together since the 1980s. Their music reflects many of their influences while growing up in the small, eclectic and culturally diverse beach town for which they are named. Venice’s sound is at once familiar and fresh, their classic rock and folk influences apparent in their pop sensibilities. Their hybrid of folk/rock/soul is relevant, alive and still growing, with many fans worldwide considering them the torchbearers of the Southern California, west coast sound. Venice’s trademarks are their vocal harmonies, (reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or the Eagles), their personal lyrics, and their communal live shows; their live show is just as effective whether acoustic in an intimate theatre or an electric show with their full band at sprawling outdoor festivals. As a group or as individuals, they have performed and/or recorded with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Stevie Nicks, Jackson Browne, Brian Wilson, Don Henley, Elton John, Michael McDonald, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Ambrosia, Heart, Cher, Rick Springfield, America, and the list goes on. The Lennons spent most of 2010-2013 as backing vocalists performing in the 219 show, record-breaking worldwide arena and stadium tour of “Roger Waters’ The Wall” (Pink Floyd). Venice was invited to join such artists as Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, Ben Harper and Lyle Lovett in contributing a track to the 2014 compilation album, Looking Into You: A Tribute To Jackson Browne. For more than twenty-five years, Venice has enjoyed a great level of success in the Netherlands, where their harmonies and musicality are considered a modern extension of what many Europeans call “West Coast Music”. Venice continues to cultivate their reputation overseas and share a longstanding friendship with their audiences, where their post-show meet & greets can sometimes last nearly as long as the shows. “The fans are what make everything possible”, says Venice’s lead guitarist and producer, Michael, “and we don’t forget that.” “We stay after every show to shake hands, take photos.”, says Michael’s brother Marky.
